This was a complicated book, but somehow, very visual. I feel like I know those people, and I feel like I lived in India during that awful period of transition. It was a powerful book, even if it was not enjoyable.

Thanks Intlxpatr, I completely agree, this was a complex book which had lots of detail and invoked powerful emotions.
